Check the activity and screen first
Open the exact activity where you want the field, then edit its Data Screens. Add a new screen or edit an existing one and choose a slot that accepts a data field. A field installed for running will not necessarily appear in a cycling, rowing or other activity screen.
- Sync the watch after installing the field from Connect IQ.
- Open the activity profile, then Data Screens.
- Choose a screen and replace a compatible field slot.
- Save the screen, start the activity and allow time for a value to become available.
Data field, watch face or watch app?
A data field belongs inside an activity screen. It does not replace the activity, create a watch face or add a separate launcher icon. If the installed item is a watch app, open it from the watch app list instead; if it is a watch face, change the active face through the watch's face settings.
If it is installed but missing
- Confirm the watch model and firmware are supported by the listing.
- Check that you are editing the same activity profile you actually start.
- Try a one-field screen when the layout has no suitable slot or the text is clipped.
- Restart the watch only after recording the model, firmware and app version; reinstalling can remove local settings.
- For a blank value, check whether the sensor or activity input is available. A truthful
--is different from a missing field.
Privacy and data boundaries
Connect IQ fields can read the activity values allowed by their manifest and may contribute data to a Garmin FIT record when the app documents that behavior. This site does not need your activity, route or health data to explain the setup. Read the app's manual and privacy page before installing.
